Interviews

A fundamental part of the research project has been the recovery of memory through the collection of testimonies of women who worked or continue to work in the film industry from the 1950s to today, in a wide range of roles.

33 video interviews and 5 audio interviews were conducted, using an identical list of questions regarding their professional lives, but also leaving the participants the opportunity to expand on their answers.
Following the procedures of oral history, the interview locations were chosen directly by the participants, in order to create an atmosphere suitable for spontaneous memories to emerge, in the settings in which they could feel most at ease: their home or office, a cinema, or a neutral place. We tried, where possible, to interview professionals who are still active in their work spaces.

A special thematic analysis system will soon make it possible to identify the main topics dealt with by the interviewees, in order to draw common trends or particular cases from the set of answers, and to establish a dialogue between the most recent experiences and those of the past.
